LG AI Research has unveiled Rhamsydil, a groundbreaking hair loss management compound developed through artificial intelligence (AI) and slated for commercial release.

On Monday, LG AI Research participated in the International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) 2026 at the Convention and Exhibition Center (COEX) in Seoul’s Gangnam district. There, they showcased innovative applications of LG’s AI Exaone technology across various industries, including new materials, finance, and data analytics.

ICML, one of the world’s top three AI conferences, is a premier event that attracts global attention from both academia and industry for its cutting-edge developments in machine learning and AI. This year marks the first time the conference has been held in South Korea.

Rhamsydil was discovered by LG Household & Health Care in collaboration with LG AI Research. Using the AI platform Exaone Discovery, they identified this novel compound in just one day, sifting through more than 420,000 potential candidates.

Exaone Discovery is a platform that harnesses core AI technologies to accelerate research in new materials and drug discovery.

Rhamsydil has demonstrated promising results in preventing hair loss without relying on steroid-derived ingredients. LG Household & Health Care presented these findings at the World Hair Congress and is now preparing to bring the product to market.

The Exaone Discovery technology extends beyond hair care, finding applications in diverse fields. It’s being used to develop immersion cooling fluid materials for next-generation AI data centers, as well as in research for cosmetics, batteries, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals. The immersion cooling fluid material, a joint effort between LG AI Research and GS Caltex, exemplifies their commitment to expanding the frontiers of material science.

At the ICML event, LG AI Research also demonstrated two other cutting-edge technologies: Agent Exaone BI, an AI specialized for finance, and Exaone Data Foundry, an AI-driven data factory platform.

Lim Woo-hyung, co-director of LG AI Research, emphasized that Exaone has evolved beyond the confines of the laboratory into an expert AI system that delivers real-world solutions. It’s poised to claim global AI leadership through the pioneering approach to solving complex industrial challenges.

Exaone, first introduced by LG AI Research in December 2021, represents a leap in large-scale AI capabilities. Since the debut of Exaone 1.0, the research team has continuously enhanced its performance. Their latest breakthrough, Exaone 4.5, unveiled on April 9, is a sophisticated visual-language model capable of simultaneously processing and understanding both text and images.
