LG Electronics said on July 14 that it is strengthening its competitiveness as a media entertainment company in the global TV market by expanding the number of channels available on its free ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) service, LG Channels, to more than 5,000.

LG Electronics recently launched LG Channels in Poland, increasing the number of countries where the service operates to 37. Along with expanding its service coverage, the company has continued to add region-specific content, bringing the total number of LG Channels operated worldwide to more than 5,000.

Launched in 2015, LG Channels is a flagship content service of LG Electronics’ proprietary smart TV platform, webOS, providing content tailored to the preferences of users in different countries and regions. TVs equipped with webOS are available in more than 270 million units worldwide.

Poland is the fifth-largest country in Europe by population, with a rapidly growing smart TV market. After expanding LG Channels’ availability in Europe to 17 countries, LG Electronics plans to accelerate its expansion into Central and Eastern Europe through its entry into Poland.

In Poland, LG Channels offers a wide range of content genres, including global news, sports, entertainment and movies. The company is also collaborating with global FAST solution provider NEW ID to introduce dedicated K-content channels. LG Electronics plans to continue expanding local channels tailored to viewer demand while improving accessibility through multilingual support, including Polish.

LG Electronics operates LG Channels across various regions, including Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East and Asia, providing locally customized content such as live broadcasts, movies, sports and entertainment.

In Brazil, where sports are highly popular, more than 10% of LG Channels’ lineup consists of dedicated sports channels. In India, the company is strengthening local content offerings centered on Bollywood programming and has expanded the number of channels to more than 150. In Taiwan, LG Electronics is enhancing competitiveness by providing locally popular dramas and other content.

LG Electronics is also advancing its software capabilities to provide a more convenient LG Channels experience. The company redesigned the interface for Arabic-speaking viewers, whose languages are read from right to left.

The company has also strengthened AI algorithms to provide more advanced personalized services, including AI-based content recommendations.

Thanks to efforts to provide locally tailored content and regular service updates, LG Channels recently received the New Technology Award at the 2026 Global OTT Awards.

The number of LG Channels users and viewing time continues to grow. Last year, the average monthly number of global viewers watching LG Channels increased 30% compared with the previous year. During the same period, total viewing time across global customers also rose more than 45% year over year, reflecting expanded customer reach and increased content consumption.

Jo Byung-ha, executive vice president and head of LG Electronics’ webOS Platform Business Center, said, “We will continue strengthening content competitiveness and expanding our global ecosystem so customers around the world, including those in North America, Europe and emerging markets, can enjoy LG Channels.”

Meanwhile, LG Electronics plans to further strengthen its competitiveness in the smart TV platform market through content and advertising businesses based on LG Channels and its LG Radio Plus service. LG Radio Plus is a free ad-supported service that allows users to enjoy audio content, including radio and podcasts, through smart TVs.
