HL Robotics is set to introduce the world’s first outdoor autonomous parking robot, STAN, in South Korea. The company aims to broaden the parking robot market, which has primarily focused on indoor applications, to outdoor environments and target the domestic parking and vehicle logistics sectors.

HL Robotics announced on Friday that it will participate in the 2026 32nd Gangneung ITS World Congress, scheduled from October 19 to 23 at the Olympic Park in Gangneung. During the event, the company will showcase STAN’s autonomous driving technology and a digital twin-based integrated control system, demonstrating the actual process of vehicle entry and exit.

STAN is the world’s first outdoor autonomous parking robot. It became part of HL Robotics’ product lineup following the acquisition of French robotics company Stanley Robotics in 2024.

This event marks STAN’s official debut in South Korea. HL Robotics plans to unveil the autonomous driving technology of outdoor parking robots and the integrated control system, aiming to penetrate the domestic parking and vehicle logistics market.

Two STAN units will feature in the robot demonstration. They will showcase the entire autonomous parking operation process in real-world environments, such as airports, including vehicle entry and exit. The demonstration will take place in the Gangneung Hockey Center parking lot, where visitors can observe STAN’s rapid vehicle transport and storage capabilities in a spacious outdoor area.

The company will also reveal STAN’s competitive integrated control system. Using digital twin technology, they have created a virtual replica of actual parking spaces, enabling real-time monitoring of robot and vehicle locations, movement paths, and operational status.

The system is designed to coordinate movement paths and task sequences when multiple robots operate simultaneously, avoiding collisions while pre-positioning vehicles scheduled for exit. This spatial optimization feature is expected to enhance parking lot operational efficiency.

HL Robotics is also developing an integrated parking solution for both indoor and outdoor environments. They plan to implement vehicle entry and exit automation using the indoor parking robot PARKIE and the outdoor parking robot STAN across various settings. The company anticipates that this solution will be particularly useful in complex parking environments, such as airports.

Kim Yoon-ki, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HL Robotics, stated that while domestic parking robots have primarily been introduced and commercialized for indoor use, outdoor parking represents a significant segment of the market. It will showcase STAN’s outdoor autonomous driving technology and integrated control system at this ITS World Congress and work to expand its adoption in South Korea.
