Kakao is collaborating with Riot Games to reimagine iconic League of Legends (LoL) moments and music through Kakao Friends characters.
On Thursday, Kakao announced plans for various online and offline partnerships with Riot Games to celebrate the upcoming 2026 League of Legends World Championship (2026 Worlds) season.
On October 13, Kakao unveiled three collaborative pieces featuring Chun-sik, a Kakao Friends character, reinterpreting key scenes and storylines from the 2023 Worlds music video, including those of T1 and player Faker.
The company will release collaborative content with LoL’s virtual K-pop group K/DA on October 23 at 10:00 a.m. (KST) through official Kakao Friends social media channels. Follow-up content comparing the collaboration to the original will be released gradually.
From October 23 to November 1, fans can experience the collaborative content at Riot Games’ official pop-up event in Lotte World Mall, Jamsil, Seoul.
During the 2026 Worlds in November, Kakao plans to showcase the collaboration on a massive billboard in New York’s Times Square, reaching global esports enthusiasts.
A Kakao spokesperson emphasized that this campaign is not a one-off event, but the first step in a broader partnership with Riot Games, beginning with the 2026 content collaboration.
