Coway’s Airmega Mighty 2, an air purifier designed for the North American market, has been named one of TIME magazine’s Best Inventions of 2026. The product received high marks for combining air purification and real-time air quality monitoring in a single device, as well as for its energy efficiency and quiet performance.
Coway said on the 26th that the Airmega Mighty 2 was selected for TIME’s Best Inventions of 2026 list in the home appliances category.
Each year, TIME evaluates products and services from around the world based on factors including originality, effectiveness and impact, selecting innovations that make a difference in everyday life.
TIME described the Airmega Mighty 2 as an “air purifier with two roles.” The magazine highlighted its air purification system, which uses IEST-certified HEPA and carbon filters, as well as its MegaScan laser sensor, which detects ultrafine particles and enables real-time monitoring of indoor air quality.
The company also improved energy efficiency and noise performance. According to Coway, the Mighty 2 consumes 20% less energy than its predecessor and operates at noise levels as low as 19 decibels.
The recognition further strengthens the Airmega brand’s track record in the North American market. Its predecessor, the Airmega Mighty, was named the best air purifier by Wirecutter, The New York Times’ product review publication, for 12 consecutive years. It was also recently inducted into Wirecutter’s first-ever Hall of Fame.
Coway said its Airmega product line has also been consistently featured by major U.S. media outlets, including CNN Underscored, WIRED and Forbes Vetted. The Mighty 2 has also won all three of the world’s major design awards: the Red Dot Design Award, the iF Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA).
A Coway representative said, “Being named one of TIME’s Best Inventions confirms the strength of our air care technology and product quality, which we have built up over more than a decade in the North American market.” The representative added, “We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the global air care market through differentiated technology.”
