Xreal announced that it will launch Aura, a wired extended reality (XR) glasses product developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm and powered by Android XR, in South Korea on the 30th. Prices start at approximately $1,127.
Aura runs Google’s Android XR operating system (OS) and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform. Xreal describes it as the world’s first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR.
The device weighs less than 95 grams and features a 70-degree field of view and Sony micro-organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200p resolution, while its audio system incorporates Bose sound technology.
The main computing components and battery are housed in a separate compact computing unit called the Puck rather than in the glasses themselves. Users can view virtual screens through transparent lenses while remaining aware of their surroundings.
The glasses also support Google’s Gemini AI assistant. Users can control the device with voice commands or hand gestures and use Gemini to access information displayed on the screen or carry out related tasks.
Among the services available in South Korea is CHZZK, Naver’s streaming platform. Xreal identified CHZZK as the first domestic application demonstrated on the device and said Aura also supports 180-degree and 360-degree video playback.
Users can also access more than 150 XR-specific content offerings, as well as mobile apps and games from Google Play. Connecting a laptop or compatible handheld gaming device via USB-C allows Aura to function as a virtual display.
Aura will be available in two configurations, depending on memory and storage: a 12GB RAM/256GB storage model and a 16GB RAM/512GB storage model. Discounted prices will apply through December, at approximately $1,127 and $1,327, respectively.
The glasses will be available starting on the 30th through Xreal’s official Naver Smart Store.
