Apple has announced a significant upgrade for its AirPods Max headphones this April, adding lossless and ultra-low latency audio support and a new personalized spatial audio feature. This enhancement will be included in the upcoming updates for iOS 18.4iPadOS 18.4, and macOS Sequoia 15.4, enabling 24-bit 48kHz lossless audio.

When using a USB-C cable, users can access an expanded version of the lossless audio experience, which includes personalized spatial audio with dynamic head tracking technology. Apple highlighted that these upgrades would greatly benefit music producers, allowing them to fully leverage the AirPods Max throughout their workflows in Logic Pro and other music production software. The improvements also promise advantages for gamers and live streamers, offering ultra-low latency audio with virtually no delay, delivering performance comparable to the built-in speakers on MacsiPads, and iPhones.
