LG CNS announced on Thursday that it’s partnering with Cline, a global artificial intelligence (AI) coding agent developer, to commercialize an AI Developer capable of autonomously executing the entire development process.

The company recently signed a Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with Cline at its headquarters in LG Science Park, Magok, Seoul.

The signing ceremony was attended by LG CNS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hyun Shin-kyun and Cline CEO Saoud Rizwan, among others.

The two firms plan to merge LG CNS’s proprietary AI coding technology, DevOn AI Native Development, with Cline’s coding agent to jointly create Cline Spec Driven For Enterprise.

Their aim is to evolve AI agents from simple assistants to AI Developers capable of autonomous decision-making and independent work.

Cline’s coding agent, available as open-source software, can be tailored to specific corporate environments without being tied to any particular cloud or AI model.

An LG CNS spokesperson noted that Cline’s coding agent has seen a remarkable 4,700% growth rate on GitHub, the global open-source platform. The company plans to leverage its diverse industry project experience to build a Knowledge Foundation model.

The spokesperson illustrated the AI’s capabilities: When developing a fraud detection system for the financial sector, the AI will analyze customer needs, propose design solutions, and write code independently. It will then automatically debug, generate hundreds of test cases, and validate the results. Developers will only need to review the AI-generated output.

LG CNS intends to first implement this solution in internal projects to verify its performance and reliability before expanding to external business applications.

The LG CNS representative emphasized that it’ll offer this as an on-premises solution, eliminating concerns about data leakage. Its Agentic AI Coding Solution stands out by integrating our accumulated development expertise with cutting-edge global technology.

Ahn Hyun-jung, Senior Vice President (VP) of Application Architecture at LG CNS, stated that the tech landscape is rapidly shifting from generative AI to agentic AI. They’re poised to lead innovation in AI coding through its dual strategy of building customer systems and providing advanced solutions.
