South Korea and the United States are set to hold a Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Washington, D.C. on September 18. The talks are expected to cover a wide range of critical bilateral issues, including the agreement on the first phase of a 350 billion USD investment project in the U.S. and potential troop deployment to the Strait of Hormuz.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that Foreign Minister Cho Hyun will embark on a three-day visit to the U.S. from September 17 to 19. Minister Cho is scheduled to meet with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for bilateral talks on September 18.
During the meeting, both sides plan to discuss pressing matters such as U.S. investment and the Strait of Hormuz deployment. They will also explore ways to revitalize stalled security consultations, including the potential acquisition of South Korean nuclear-powered submarines and amendments to the nuclear agreement.
