OpenAI has unveiled a groundbreaking application that acts as a control hub for multiple artificial intelligence (AI) agents.
On Monday, the company launched Codex, a macOS app designed to manage several AI agents simultaneously and execute various tasks in parallel.

Codex functions as a command center for multiple agents, allowing AI to perform tasks concurrently on separate threads for each project, facilitating seamless task transitions. The app also features a workflow function that enables multiple agents to collaborate without interfering with each other.

Users can schedule Codex to run agents automatically in the background at predetermined times. Additionally, developers can tailor their collaboration style with agents based on preferences, ranging from task execution to active communication.

OpenAI explained that developers can now coordinate tasks across various projects using different agents and execute them in parallel. The company emphasized that the key challenge is how to effectively direct, oversee, and collaborate with agents at scale.

Codex is available to paid subscribers of ChatGPT Plus, Pro, and Enterprise. However, to mark the app’s debut, OpenAI is temporarily granting free access to users and subscribers on the lower-tier plan (ChatGPT Go).

The company has announced plans to release a Windows version of the Codex app in the near future.
