Apple on March 17 introduced AirPods Max 2, the latest version of its over-ear headphones, featuring upgraded active noise cancellation and a range of new AI-based features.

The company said preorders for the new model will begin on March 25. The headphones will start at about $570 in Asia.

The device is powered by Apple’s latest Apple H2 chip, enabling noise cancellation performance that is up to 1.5 times stronger than the previous model. The improved system is designed to more effectively block external sounds such as aircraft engines or noise from public transportation, allowing for a more immersive listening experience.

Several AI-driven features have also been added. These include Adaptive Audio, which automatically adjusts noise control depending on the surrounding environment; Conversation Awareness, which lowers audio volume when the user begins speaking; and Voice Isolation, which enhances call clarity.

The headphones also introduce real-time translation powered by Apple Intelligence, marking the first time the capability has appeared in the AirPods Max lineup.

Sound quality has also been enhanced. A newly designed high dynamic range amplifier improves bass response and spatial audio performance. When connected via USB-C, the headphones support 24-bit / 48 kHz lossless audio, expanding their potential use for professional tasks such as music production or video editing.

Additional features aimed at content creators have also been introduced. The device supports studio-quality audio recording and includes a camera remote function that allows users to control a camera remotely using the Digital Crown.

The headphones will be available in five colors: Midnight, Starlight, Orange, Purple and Blue.

Preorders will begin on March 25 in more than 30 countries, through Apple’s official website and the Apple Store app. Shipping and in-store sales are scheduled to begin in early April.
