On Tuesday, physical artificial intelligence (AI) startup RLWRLD announced the appointment of Carl Choi as its new U.S. representative to spearhead the company’s expansion into the American market.

Prior to joining RLWRLD, Choi was a partner at Alumni Ventures, where he led investments in deep tech, with a focus on AI and robotics.

His background includes investment experience at SolarStar Ventures and strategic roles at Upwork and Riverbed Technology.

Under Choi’s leadership, RLWRLD aims to strengthen partnerships in the U.S. and implement a robust market entry strategy.

RLWRLD is developing a Robot Foundation Model (RFM) using real-world operational data from factories and logistics warehouses. The company plans to unveil a foundational model for robotics in the first half of this year.

A spokesperson for RLWRLD explained that they’ve validated the RFM’s potential in industrial settings across South Korea and Japan. The goal is to create a model capable of human-like hand movements by training on high-precision multimodal data collected from manufacturing and logistics environments.

The startup is set to host a series of high-profile launch events, beginning in the U.S. in May, followed by Japan and South Korea.

RLWRLD’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ryu Joong-hee, stated that Choi will oversee the development of strategic partnerships with U.S. companies in manufacturing, logistics, and robotics sectors. He’ll also bridge connections with local venture capital firms and startup ecosystems. His comprehensive understanding of both RLWRLD’s technological value and the U.S. market landscape will be instrumental in accelerating the long-term partnership initiatives.
