Hippocrat Labs, an artificial intelligence (AI) driven digital healthcare company, announced on Thursday that it has simultaneously secured four international information security certifications: ISO 27799, 27001, 27017, and 27018.

These International Organization for Standardization (ISO) certifications cover various aspects of information security. ISO 27001 addresses overall information security management systems, while ISO 27799 focuses on healthcare information protection. ISO 27017 pertains to cloud security, and ISO 27018 deals with personal data protection in cloud environments.

ISO 27799 is particularly noteworthy as it sets information security standards specifically for the healthcare sector, outlining crucial security control requirements for medical institutions. It’s uncommon for domestic healthcare startups to obtain all these certifications simultaneously.

Cyber incident reports in South Korea have skyrocketed from 1,277 cases in 2023 to 2,383 cases in 2025, nearly doubling in just two years and hitting a record high. This January, two major hospitals in South Korea fell victim to ransomware attacks, crippling their medical systems.

Hippocrat Labs offers Hippo Medisafe, a security management service tailored for small to medium-sized medical facilities. This service employs a distributed structure for managing medical data and incorporates advanced security features, including anomaly detection and recovery processes.

During the Proof of Concept (PoC) phase, the company successfully detected and resolved a backup interruption at a medical institution, averting potential data loss.

Hippo Medisafe is engineered to work in tandem with the company’s blockchain-based medical data initiative, Hippo Protocol, ensuring secure storage and management of collected data.

A spokesperson for Hippocrat Labs stated that this certification validates our adherence to international standards in handling medical data. It aims to provide security management services on par with having a dedicated in-house security officer, even for medical institutions that can’t afford one.
