YouTuber Potato Turtle (real name Song Ji-yoon) has apologized after facing backlash for posting a video of her attempt to meet BLACKPINK’s Jennie at her agency’s office.

On Tuesday, Potato Turtle took to social media to express her remorse, stating that she sincerely apologizes to everyone who was made uncomfortable by the recent video. She has carefully read all the comments and am deeply reflecting on her thoughtless actions.

In her statement, Potato Turtle explained that she’s currently working through a list of 100 bucket list items. Some, like witnessing the Northern Lights in Iceland, are relatively achievable. Others, such as having coffee with Jennie, are realistically much more challenging.

She continued that she wanted to push myself to attempt something that seemed impossible. She hoped to knock on doors and carve out her own path. Of course, she never truly believed that visiting the agency or attending a concert would actually result in having coffee with Jennie.

Potato Turtle added that she often draws inspiration from international content for her videos. Seeing celebrity shout-out videos abroad, she wanted to convey her sincerity in a similar way. However, she now realizes her approach was misguided, and she deeply regret any discomfort she has caused.

She further clarified that as she works through her bucket list, she always strives to create genuine content. It’s absolutely untrue that she used Jennie for views or clicks. She simply wanted to express her admiration as a genuine fan. She hopes her sincere intentions aren’t overshadowed by her poorly thought-out actions.

The controversy stems from Potato Turtle’s recent video documenting her attempt to fulfill the bucket list item have coffee with Jennie by visiting the BLACKPINK member’s agency, OA Entertainment. The footage showed her ringing the office doorbell and leaving a letter and flowers. She also held up a sign reading “Jennie, want to grab coffee?” outside a concert venue.

The video drew swift criticism from netizens, who called it dangerous and intrusive and likened her behavior to that of obsessive sasaeng fans. As the backlash intensified, Potato Turtle made the video private and issued her public apology.
