Worldcoin (WLD) prices are surging as Grayscale, a prominent U.S. asset management firm, moves to launch a Worldcoin exchange-traded fund (ETF).
According to CoinMarketCap, a leading cryptocurrency tracking platform, Worldcoin was trading at 0.3856 USD as of 4:00 p.m. (Korean time) on Wednesday, marking an 8.16% increase from the same time the previous day.
Market analysts attribute this bullish trend to Grayscale’s ETF filing, which has significantly bolstered investor confidence.
CoinTelegraph, a respected crypto news outlet, reported on Tuesday that Grayscale had submitted an S-1 registration application for the Worldcoin ETF to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The preliminary prospectus reveals plans to list the ETF on Nasdaq under the ticker GWLD.
BitGo Bank & Trust will act as the custodian, with BNY Mellon overseeing fund management and transfer agent duties. CSC Delaware Trust Company is set to serve as a custodian.
Worldcoin is the native token of the World project, co-founded by OpenAI Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sam Altman. Built on the Ethereum blockchain as an ERC-20 token, it aims to create a revolutionary digital identity verification system. This system would leverage biometric data, including iris scans, to distinguish between human users and artificial intelligence (AI)-powered bots.
