Hanmi Science announced on Friday that its core subsidiary, Hanmi Pharmaceutical, has achieved the highest P Grade rating in the annual Process Safety Management (PSM) evaluation conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor at its Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center.

This marks a significant milestone for the Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center, which has now secured the P Grade for two consecutive years, becoming the first in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry to do so.

The PSM system, implemented by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, is a comprehensive evaluation of safety management practices in workplaces handling hazardous facilities and substances. Its primary goal is to prevent major industrial accidents. Based on the assessment, facilities are rated as P (Excellent), S (Good), M+ (Average), or M- (Poor).

The P Grade represents the highest level of safety management acknowledged by the government. As of 2025, only 26 out of 614 facilities in the greater Seoul area have achieved this rating, underscoring the rigorous evaluation criteria. To earn this grade, a facility must demonstrate a well-established, autonomous safety management system throughout its operations.

The Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center has consistently improved its safety protocols by enhancing risk assessments, proactively identifying potential hazards, strengthening on-site safety measures, and fostering a robust safety culture.

The center received high marks for its employee-driven, preventive safety management activities, which have effectively integrated the PSM system into daily operations.

By maintaining the P Grade, the Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center has solidified its reputation as a facility with a comprehensive autonomous safety management system, covering everything from risk identification to preventive measures and continuous improvement.

Hanmi Pharmaceutical is committed to enhancing its Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system across all its facilities, with a particular focus on the Pyeongtaek and Paltan Manufacturing Centers. The company leverages data-driven safety management and preventive systems to ensure world-class safety standards and maintain its competitive edge in production.

EHS refers to an integrated corporate safety management system that encompasses environmental, health, and safety practices.

In a recent move to further strengthen its safety protocols, Hanmi Pharmaceutical has appointed a Chief Safety Officer (CSO).

The company is intensifying its preventive safety management across all departments, including production, research, and sales. Safety has been positioned as a cornerstone of Hanmi’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy, with ongoing efforts to bolster its proactive health and safety management system.

The Pyeongtaek Manufacturing Center serves as Hanmi Group’s global hub for biopharmaceutical production. It is set to play a crucial role in the domestic and international supply of the company’s future growth drivers, including Efpeglenatide, a novel obesity treatment slated for release in the latter half of this year.

Furthermore, the center demonstrates its world-class biopharmaceutical production capabilities by manufacturing Rolvedon (marketed as Rolontis in Korea), which has received FDA approval in the U.S. It also produces clinical trial materials for a promising MASH treatment candidate being developed in collaboration with global pharmaceutical giant MSD.
