Is Lee Jung-hoo’s Batting Streak Enough to Revive the Giants? Key Highlights from the MLB Game

LifestyleIs Lee Jung-hoo's Batting Streak Enough to Revive the Giants? Key Highlights from the MLB Game

Lee Jung-hoo (28, San Francisco Giants) continued his hot streak, recording hits in two consecutive games after returning from a brief rest.

On Friday, Lee started as the fifth batter and right fielder in the Giants’ road game against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field. He went 1-for-4 in the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) matchup.

After sitting out the game on Wednesday to recharge both physically and mentally, Lee has now notched hits in back-to-back contests.

His season batting average dipped slightly from .294 to .293.

Lee struggled to solve Guardians’ starter Gavin Williams, going hitless in his first three at-bats.

In the second inning, Lee battled through a nine-pitch at-bat before striking out. He then popped out to center field in the fourth and flew out to left in the sixth.

However, Lee managed to salvage his night with a hit in his final plate appearance.

With the Giants trailing 4-2 in the eighth, Lee stepped up to the plate with two outs and a runner on first. He laced a 95.3 mph (approximately 153.4 km/h) fastball from Cleveland’s fourth pitcher, Hunter Gaddis, into center field for a single. Unfortunately, Lee was stranded on base when Osleivis Basabe made the final out of the inning.

San Francisco found themselves in an early hole, surrendering three runs in the bottom of the first. They clawed back to within one run in the fourth inning on Willy Adames’ two-run homer, but Cleveland tacked on insurance runs in the sixth and eighth to secure the victory.

The Giants dropped two of three in their series against Cleveland, falling to 52-75 on the season. They remain in fourth place in the National League West.
