On Monday, HYBE’s new girl group TUIDE made their highly anticipated debut, ready to paint the music scene with their unique colors.
The media showcase for TUIDE’s debut mini-album TUNE & PLAY was held at the YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. During the event, TUIDE members Seohee, Seoyeon, Elena, Jiah, Saki, Seah, and Ihani performed their title track “SUN KISS” and shared their thoughts on their debut with the press.
TUIDE is the first artist to debut under ABD, HYBE’s new label specializing in girl groups. Their debut album TUNE & PLAY features five tracks that blend different musical languages into a single rhythm, embodying the concepts of TUNE and PLAY.
The title track “SUN KISS” captures the moment of trusting one’s own voice and sensibility while focusing on inner rhythms and emotions. It’s a smooth yet unforgettable song with an addictive quality that makes listeners want to hum along.
At the showcase, Seah expressed her excitement about their dream debut, saying that she’s thrilled to finally debut. It wants to captivate audiences with the refreshing performances. Elena, who hails from the U.S., shared that she loved singing since childhood and always dreamed of becoming a singer. She particularly enjoys rhythm and blues (R&B) and hope to showcase her unique, groovy tone in TUIDE.
Seoyeon described her role in the group, saying that she’s like the fizzy drink in TUIDE. People often compliment her expressiveness, so she wants to bring that sparkling charm to the performances. Jia added that on stage, she expresses the song’s emotions with intense gazes, but off-stage, she has a puppy-like cuteness. She aims to grow into a confident artist.
Seohee shared her excitement, saying that she’s thrilled yet nervous to introduce TUIDE to the world. She brings a clear, unique tone and clean dance lines to the team. Japanese member Saki expressed her joy, stating that she has dreamed of debuting in Korea since she was young. She’s so happy to debut with such amazing members.
Ihani highlighted her distinctive voice as her strength, expressing her desire to become an artist who brings small joys to fans’ daily lives.
Discussing their debut song “SUN KISS”, Jia said that it really showcases each member’s unique charm. It has captured a free-spirited mood and positive energy through the seven voices. Elena added that when she first heard “SUN KISS”, she found it unique and fresh. The catchy hooks made it want to listen again. She thought it would definitely be a playlist-worthy song once released.
Regarding their debut goals, Jia stated that they’re primary goal is for people to recognize and remember TUIDE. It hopes to receive love and positive feedback, aiming for a rookie award. Seah shared her ambitions, saying that it wants to make TUIDE a household name and hope people enjoy the music and performances. It aims to be a group that makes listeners curious about our next release and worthy of being added to playlists.
When asked to describe TUIDE with a keyword, Seoyeon chose joy, explaining that she wants to share the fun experiences we’ve had leading up to the debut with the audience.
Seohee added that she would describe TUIDE as vivid. Each of the seven members has a distinct personality, and she believes TUIDE beautifully harmonizes these individual traits.
These statements have heightened expectations for TUIDE’s debut activities.
