Samsung Electronics announced today through its official newsroom that the adoption of the Galaxy Z Flip as a body camera by U.S. police is increasing.

Two years ago, the Kimberling City Police in Missouri introduced the Galaxy Z Flip series as a body camera on a trial basis. Following this, police departments in San Benito, Texas, and the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office in Arkansas also adopted the Flip series for their body cameras.

An effort is underway to expand the adoption to police departments in 25 cities across five states in the United States.

The Galaxy Z Flip series has received praise for being lightweight and compact, making it easy to carry. It features high-quality cameras that are useful for police work. Officers can capture evidence at crime scenes, record witness interviews, and utilize GPS for real-time tracking of their locations. Additionally, they can instantly save recorded videos to a cloud server, allowing for real-time video transmission to police control centers.

Notably, bodycam recording can be initiated in an emergency by pressing the volume button without turning on the display or opening the smartphone.

Todd Lemoine, Chief of the Kimberling City Police Department, stated, “We chose the Galaxy Z Flip due to the wide array of benefits it brings to our team, and we’re delighted to say that we’ve had incredible results. We’ve seen response and investigation efforts significantly improved by its ease of use and ability to enhance communications across teams. These devices put powerful resources right at the fingertips of our force.”

Samsung Electronics is cooperating with police in 39 countries worldwide, including the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia.
