South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, currently visiting Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for the G20 Summit, met with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Tuesday to condemn the recent illegal military cooperation between North Korea and Russia.

During the meeting, Yoon and Starmer shared assessments of the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. They discussed developments related to the illicit military collaboration between North Korea and Russia and acknowledged both nations’ strong, unified condemnation of these issues.

The two leaders agreed to maintain close cooperation for a coordinated response. They also pledged solidarity with the international community to support peace and reconstruction efforts in Ukraine.

The discussions extended to bilateral cooperation. Yoon and Starmer agreed to accelerate efforts to launch Foreign and Defense 2+2 meetings, enhance defense industry collaboration, and deliver tangible progress on updating the Korea-UK Free Trade Agreement. They also emphasized the importance of strengthening ties in the carbon-free energy sector.

On the global stage, the two leaders committed to reinforcing cooperation through international forums such as the United Nations Security Council, G7, and G20. They pledged to maintain strategic communication to address regional and global challenges and ensure alignment on shared priorities.
