Ahead of the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Children’s Union (June 6), a Russian Youth Friendship Delegation visiting North Korea met with Kang Yun Sok, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of North Korea.
On May 5, North Korea’s Workers’ Party media, Rodong Sinmun, reported, “Comrade Kang met and spoke with key Russian Youth Friendship Delegation members, who paid a courtesy visit to Mansudae Assembly Hall on June 4. The Delegation is led by Grigory Petushkov, Chairman of the Russian Youth Union National Council.”
Kim Sung Il, Vice Chairman of the Patriotic Youth League, officials from related sectors, and officials of the Russian embassy in North Korea were also present at the meeting.
Before this, the Russian Youth Friendship Delegation met with Mun Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Patriotic Youth League. During the meeting, issues to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the youth organizations of the two countries were discussed.
The Russian Youth Friendship Delegation arrived in Pyongyang on June 3, attended a banquet, and visited Mansudae Hill to lay a flower basket at the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il the next day
North Korea and Russia have continued to cooperate in various fields such as politics, military, economy, and culture, with the youth exchange ongoing. In February, the North Korean Youth Delegation visited Russia to participate in the 2024 World Youth Festival, and a North Korean Youth Friendship Delegation also visited Russia in April.
The media also reported that an international conference delegation led by Jung Moo Rim returned to Korea on the 4th after attending the 77th meeting of the World Health Organization (WHO) General Assembly held in Geneva, Switzerland.
It was reported that Vice Minister of Health Park Hak Kyung greeted them at Pyongyang International Airport. The international conference delegation left Pyongyang on May 25.
