On June 17, Kim Jung Sook, the wife of former President Moon Jae In, filed a complaint against Bae Hyun Jin, a lawmaker of the People’s Power party, at the Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul.

On the afternoon of the same day, Rep. Yun Kun Young’s office stated, “Bae has continuously spread false information through the media, seriously damaging Kim’s reputation,” and expressed their expectation for a “quick and thorough investigation by the investigative agency.” Bae had first raised suspicions about luxurious in-flight meals during Kim’s visit to India in 2018, pointing out that the in-flight meal expense in a contract with Korean Air (amounting to $171,500) was $45,600, the second-largest item after fuel costs of $47,350.

In response, Yoon of the Democratic Party, who worked at the Blue House during the Moon administration, countered by saying, “Excluding fixed costs like transportation and storage fees, the cost of in-flight meals was $15,700 and Kim’s four meals cost $760.” Moon also responded to the ongoing attacks from the opposition, deriding them as “petty disputes” and urging for “dignified politics.”
