American superstar Tom Cruise is expected to deliver the Olympic flag to the United States during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics.
TMZ reported that Cruise will perform a stunt during the closing ceremony on August 12.
According to the report, Cruise plans to arrive at the Stade de France stadium by rope and land in the arena while holding the Olympic flag.
Afterward, Cruise will fly to Los Angeles (LA), the host city for the next Olympics in 2028, and skydive over the iconic Hollywood sign before handing the flag to the athletes. This will be shown as a pre-recorded video.
Cruise reportedly proposed this method of handing over the Olympic flag to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Traditionally, the mayor of the city hosting the Olympics passes the flag to the mayor of the next host city. During the Tokyo Olympics’s closing ceremony, the Tokyo Governor handed the Olympic flag to the Mayor of Paris.
French media outlet RMC Sports had previously speculated that Tom Cruise was filming a video related to the Olympics. This speculation arose after he was seen shooting scenes at the Hollywood sign in March and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris at the end of April.
Currently, Tom Cruise is staying in Paris to support the U.S. team at the Olympics, which heightens speculation that he is preparing for a role in the closing ceremony.
