EtcTrashy Tactics: North Korea Sends 120 Balloons Over the Border

It has been confirmed that North Korea has launched an additional 120 trash-filled balloons towards the South.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) announced on Monday, “Our military has identified that North Korea launched approximately 120 garbage balloons from last evening until this morning.” They added, “Currently, none are being detected in the air.”

The JCS also explained, “So far, about 30 pieces of debris have been found in the Gyeonggi-do and Seoul areas. The confirmed contents are everyday garbage such as paper, vinyl, and plastic bottles. The analysis has shown that there are no materials harmful to safety.”

This balloon release is the 22nd since North Korea first dispersed balloons on May 28. North Korea engaged in these provocative actions by launching balloons toward the South on September 14 and 15 and again on September 18 during the South Korean Chuseok holiday. More balloons were launched just four days later.
