G-Dragon and Kim Soo Hyun break the ice in their first meeting on Good Day.

MBC’s new variety show, Good Day, premiered on Sunday afternoon. During the premiere, South Korean singer G-Dragon and actor Kim Soo Hyun met for the first time, which was heartwarming.

On this particular day, G-Dragon and comedian Jo Se Ho traveled together in the car of producer Code Kunst. Jo Se Ho joked as they got in, “I want to introduce Ji Yong to a great friend today. He’s super cool, and the best part is, he’s the same age as Ji Yong.”

The three arrived at a sleek, high-end building. When the door opened, actor Kim Soo Hyun greeted them. They had arrived at his agency’s office. As they toured the company’s impressive facilities, they couldn’t help but express their amazement.

Their first stop was the gym, where Kim Soo Hyun, passionate about fitness, introduced them to some of his favorite equipment. They all took turns trying out boxing mitts and punching bags, laughing and enjoying the challenge. When Jo Se Ho struggled with the punching machine, G-Dragon couldn’t stop laughing, saying, “This is the first time I’ve felt like I’m bonding with someone through exercise.”

As Kim Soo Hyun and G-Dragon practiced mitt punches together, they quickly found their rhythm. Code Kunst watched them and said, “You two really seem like friends now. I didn’t expect you to click this well.”

Afterward, the group moved to the office building’s cafeteria, where they toasted with iced coffee, which Kim Soo Hyun had prepared himself. When asked how he felt about joining Good Day, Kim Soo Hyun shared, “It’s an honor to be here with such an amazing group of people, so I said yes immediately.”

Jo Se Ho, curious about whether Kim Soo Hyun was a fan of BIGBANG, asked, “Did you always like them?” Kim Soo Hyun responded enthusiastically, “I grew up watching BIGBANG. Their MAMA performance was incredible. I’m not usually one to get emotional, but I literally got chills three times watching it.” G-Dragon added, “I watched ‘Queen of Tears’ all the way through.”

When G-Dragon mentioned they were both born in 1988, Kim Soo Hyun talked about his close friends from that year, naming actors Jung Hae In and Yim Si Wan. The conversation shifted to Hwang Kwang Hee, another celebrity born in 1988, and G-Dragon revealed, “Kwang Hee is a lot more shy than people think. He’s actually really sweet.”

Kim Soo Hyun then admitted, “I also tend to take a while to warm up to people, but if I just push myself to say, ‘Let’s drop the formalities,’ things usually get easier.” Turning to Jo Se Ho, he added, “Bro, you can speak casually with me if you want.” Jo Se Ho, ever the cool guy, responded, “Alright, Soo Hyun, let’s be friends.”

Code Kunst also referred to Kim Soo Hyun as “Soo Hyun bro,” a sign of respect for an older male, to which Kim Soo Hyun warmly replied, “Nice to meet you.” After a brief moment of hesitation, G-Dragon extended his hand and said, “Soo Hyun, let’s drop formalities.” Kim Soo Hyun shook his hand, solidifying their newfound camaraderie.

Reflecting on the encounter, G-Dragon commented, “He was way more easygoing and in sync with me than I expected. He’s just all laughs.” G-Dragon then officially welcomed Kim Soo Hyun as their fifth group member, joining Code Kunst, Defconn, Jung Hyung Don, and Jo Se Ho.
