TechNextEra Energy Secures $300 Million Battery Deal with Samsung SDI

Samsung SDI has secured a contract to supply NextEra Energy, the largest power company in the United States, with energy storage system (ESS) batteries worth 437.4 billion KRW (approximately $300 million).

On Friday, Samsung SDI disclosed that it had signed an ESS batteries supply agreement with NextEra Energy.

Samsung SDI stated that the ESS supply would be executed through multiple projects. The company said it would disclose any additional confirmed supply contracts by its disclosure standards.

In July, Samsung SDI announced that it was discussing a long-term ESS supply agreement with NextEra Energy. The project’s total capacity is 6.3 gigawatt-hours (GWh), estimated at around 1 trillion KRW (approximately $690 billion).
