Samsung Electronics has announced its goal to make AI experiences more integrated into everyday life by incorporating multimodal AI and AI agent capabilities into the Galaxy experience. To this end, the company plans to strengthen its collaboration with Google.

At the Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event, held on Wednesday at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn, New York, Choi Won-joon, head of the Mobile Experience (MX) Division at Samsung Electronics, stated that Samsung has redefined mobile interactions by integrating system-level AI agents into One UI 7. With One UI 8, they are expanding this experience across a broader ecosystem.

Choi added that the next phase is to deliver ambient AI experiences through AI-focused design and updates optimized for foldable devices. Ambient AI experiences refer to AI’s ability to understand context by recognizing not only text but also language, voice, and visual information.

He cited two key approaches to realizing this goal: multimodal AI and personalization. He also emphasized that Samsung is collaborating more closely than ever with Google.

Google has shown its commitment by promptly updating to Android 16 to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7.

Rick Osterloh, Google’s Vice President of Platforms and Devices, also appeared at the event, introducing Gemini Live, a feature optimized for the new foldable phones. He noted that the partnership between Google and Samsung is driving mobile innovation in the era of AI.

Google’s multimodal AI, Gemini Live, operates solely through voice commands. It responds to various everyday requests and can provide real-time assistance based on scenes shared via the device’s screen and camera.

Osterloh explained that users can now interact with Gemini about anything visible through the Galaxy’s camera or display. He added that the new foldable phones, with their larger screens, are optimized to allow users to access more information and use additional tabs and text features through Gemini.

Ultimately, he emphasized that Google and Samsung are collaborating to create seamless experiences for daily life.
