As North Korea approaches the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party’s founding on October 10 and the anticipated 9th Party Congress early next year, workers have been urged to be cautious of conventional practices. This directive is understood as a call for more thoughtful and innovative approaches to work.

The Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published an article on Tuesday titled, What Attitude is Necessary to Fulfill the Role of a Pioneer? The piece emphasized the importance of creative thinking and innovative practices in all endeavors, rather than simply adhering to established routines.

The newspaper highlighted that as times progress and the standards for creativity rise, some workers still fall into the trap of schematism and empiricism. This outdated mindset leads to a reluctance to innovate and a tendency to cling to conventional methods.

Specific examples were provided, including an inability to implement tasks innovatively due to adherence to existing frameworks, setting goals based on past actions rather than current circumstances, and a preference for following orders rather than taking initiative for fear of potential mistakes.

The article criticized those who attempt to conceal their shortcomings by resorting to various strategies and disguising outdated habits as experience. It urged workers to critically examine their work attitudes.

In light of the upcoming 80th anniversary and the 9th Party Congress, the newspaper called on workers to study Party policies diligently. It stressed the importance of developing work innovatively and creatively to fulfill their pioneering roles in the nation’s progress. The article concluded by emphasizing the need for continuous study of Party policies, thorough research of tasks, and a deep understanding of current realities.
