The Rodong Sinmun, the official newspaper of North Korea’s Workers’ Party, reported on January 16 that exemplary youths and People’s Army soldiers, selected from all corners of the country including workplaces and frontline units where the sounds of creation and construction ring loud, arrived in Pyongyang on the previous day to participate in the event commemorating the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League / Rodong Sinmun

North Korea has launched a youth movement to implement the Workers’ Party’s decisions, hailing young people as the patriotic protagonists of their era.

On January 16, the party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, published an article titled, A New Golden Age of the Korean Youth Movement. It praised the country’s youth for choosing hardship and self-discipline over comfort and indulgence during their formative years. The paper emphasized that these young people have experienced an unprecedented period of national transformation, demonstrating their ability to overcome challenges and drive innovation.

The newspaper proclaimed this youth dedication as the nation’s greatest strength, boasting it as an unparalleled source of pride that no other country or people in the world can claim.

Page 2 reported that various countries sent congratulatory messages to Party General Secretary Kim Jong Un for the New Year 2026. It also noted that participants in the 80th anniversary celebration of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League paid their respects at the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

On page 3, the paper highlighted how honorary party members from Kaechon Coal Mine village are voluntarily entering the mines to assist workers in preparation for the upcoming party congress. An editorial titled, What Legacy Should We Leave? urged officials to reflect on whether they are truly dedicating themselves to selfless public service, keeping the trust and expectations of the people as their guiding principle.

Page 4 emphasized the remarkable growth of citizens who have become loyal party members, patriots, and powerful innovators through their passionate struggle. An article titled Choices and Purpose encouraged youth to commit themselves to the homeland, citing the example of the Paektu Mountain Hero Youth Shock Brigade.

Page 5 called for organizing effective winter study sessions. It asserted that only those who actively seek to understand the party’s revolutionary ideology and master advanced agricultural techniques can truly qualify as patriotic farmers.

The paper reported that various industrial units have surpassed their January timber production targets ahead of schedule.

On page 6, the importance of constitutional compliance was stressed. An article titled, Crucial Civic Duty declared that there should be no exceptions in obeying the law, adding that when all citizens sincerely uphold and fight for the implementation of the nation’s laws, North Korea will flourish as an even more powerful and respected nation.
