Samsung Electronics announced on Tuesday that it will showcase heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) products tailored for the North American market and artificial intelligence (AI) based integrated device management capabilities at the AHR Expo, North America’s largest HVAC exhibition, held from Monday to Wednesday in Las Vegas.

The AHR Expo, organized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), is an annual event where over 1,800 global companies present their latest products and technologies.

Samsung Electronics has set up a 350 square meter (approximately 3,767 square feet) exhibition space, unveiling a wide range of HVAC products under the theme Creating a Better Everyday for both residential and commercial spaces.

Key products on display include: • The Hylex R454B outdoor unit, which applies inverter technology to widely used residential unitary systems in North America • The Mono R32 lineup, a heat pump solution providing high-efficiency heating and hot water in various climate conditions • The DVM S2+ large-capacity air conditioner that uses AI to optimize solutions based on environmental conditions • The Bespoke AI Wind-Free Air Conditioner

These products feature low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerants, aligning with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations. The Hylex R454B uses R454B refrigerant, which has a 78% lower global warming potential (GWP) than the existing R410A refrigerant. The Mono R32 HT Quiet and DVM S2+ utilize R32 refrigerant, with a GWP about 68% lower than R410.

Samsung Electronics also showcased its AI-based business-to-business (B2B) solution, SmartThings Pro, which integrates device management and energy savings for various spaces including homes, offices, and commercial buildings.

SmartThings Pro allows users to remotely control devices, receive maintenance guidance, and view real-time energy usage and automation features.

The company created a mock home environment where visitors can experience SmartThings-connected appliances, demonstrating features like automated lighting and curtain control, smartphone-based appliance control, and AI-powered energy optimization.

Visitors can test automation features such as smart locks that detect a user’s return home, the Quick Remote feature for easy smartphone control of nearby appliances, and the AI Saving Mode that optimizes power consumption.

Samsung Electronics is aggressively targeting the North American HVAC market through a joint venture with U.S. HVAC company Lennox, set to launch in 2024. The company also expanded its global HVAC presence by acquiring Europe’s largest HVAC equipment company, FläktGroup, last year.

Im Sung-taek, Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ Digital Appliances (DA) Business Division, stated that it will strengthen our leadership in the global HVAC market through optimized innovations tailored to diverse spaces and purposes.
