L&K Biomed announced on Tuesday that it actively showcased its product lineup at the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) conference held in Fukuoka, Japan, from Friday to Saturday.

Established in 1966, SRS is a non-profit academic organization and the world’s largest society dedicated to researching spinal deformity treatments. It leads education through its global network and courses, maintaining its original academic identity and values despite changing times.

While SRS has strict membership criteria that limit its numbers, it has earned international credibility and authority due to its members’ high expertise in establishing spinal treatment standards.

This year’s SRS conference marked its first occurrence in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. L&K Biomed participated in the event with the largest standalone booth, conducting demonstrations of its height-expandable cage, BluEX-LT, and its Retractor product line, along with feedback sessions for Japanese medical professionals.

The SRS conference, which gathered top spine experts, provided a valuable platform to showcase the clinical value and technological prowess of innovative products and new approaches in spine care.

Last year, L&K Biomed held meetings with major global companies to expand the market for its height-expandable cage products in the U.S. and Europe. The company is currently negotiating contracts to broaden its supply chain across the U.S., with plans to sequentially expand into Europe and the APAC region.

As part of this strategy, the Japanese market is included in the APAC regional contract targets. During the event, L&K Biomed engaged in strategic discussions with Japanese medical professionals and local distributors to explore ways to increase market share for height-expandable cage products in Japan.

An L&K Biomed spokesperson said that the discussions brought very positive feedback on the product’s superior quality and user-friendliness, adding that the company plans to continue with follow-up meetings.

Building on the market and clinical insights gained from this conference, L&K Biomed aims to strengthen its foundation for future growth. The company plans to gradually implement product enhancements and localized business strategies, including for the Japanese market, over the mid to long term.

Japan, one of the world’s most rapidly aging societies, is experiencing a surge in demand for advanced medical devices like height-expandable cages. In this market environment, L&K Biomed anticipates strong technological competitiveness and growth potential for its height-expandable cage products.

The L&K Biomed representative said that Japan is a crucial global market in the spinal implant sector, both technologically and in terms of market size, and that the company is systematically preparing to enter the local market. He added that participating in the conference was a strategic move to showcase its technological capabilities and product competitiveness to Japanese medical professionals and industry stakeholders, while also building brand value in Japan as part of a long-term strategy.

He also said that through ongoing meetings with potential local partners, the company is making concrete progress in collaboration discussions and concluded that it plans to use this momentum as a springboard to actively expand into global markets, including Japan, over the mid to long term.
