Shinhan Asset Management announced on Tuesday that it will launch the SOL U.S. Space Aerospace TOP10 ETF on the KOSPI market, focusing on the growth potential of the U.S. space industry.

This exchange traded fund (ETF) is tailored to invest selectively in companies within the pure space value chain, including reusable launch vehicles, low-Earth orbit satellites, and space infrastructure, while excluding defense and future mobility sectors.

The U.S. space industry has been experiencing rapid expansion, driven by the government’s aggressive development policies and technological breakthroughs from private companies. This year’s agenda includes the launch of Artemis II, SpaceX’s Initial Public Offering (IPO), and the development of reusable launch vehicles by major industry players.

The space industry’s shift from government-led long-term projects to rapidly expanding business models centered around private enterprises has significantly increased its investment appeal.

The SOL U.S. Space Aerospace TOP10 ETF’s key holdings include Rocket Lab (23.00%), a leader in private launch services; AST SpaceMobile (20.81%), a pivotal player in satellite communications; EchoStar (15.88%), which is expected to see increased value due to its SpaceX stake; and Planet Labs PBC (9.03%), a prominent satellite data company.

The ETF is designed to swiftly incorporate SpaceX within one trading day of its potential future listing, with a maximum weighting of up to 25%. Shinhan Asset Management views SpaceX’s IPO as a landmark event that could trigger a reassessment of the entire U.S. space industry and has prepared to promptly reflect this momentum in the ETF.

Kim Jung-hyun, head of Shinhan Asset Management’s ETF business group, stated that following artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, the space industry is poised to become a cornerstone of the global technological landscape. The SOL U.S. Space Aerospace TOP10 ETF offers an effective investment vehicle for those looking to capitalize on the structural growth of the U.S. space industry.
