Wontech Co., a leading medical solutions firm specializing in laser and energy-based technologies, is broadening its horizons beyond aesthetics to enter the surgical medical device market.

The company announced on Wednesday that it has secured supply contracts worth 2.2 million USD for its HOLINWON series equipment in Uzbekistan and Indonesia.

Wontech attributes this success in Central and Southeast Asian markets to its holmium laser surgical equipment, which has garnered global certifications and established a strong clinical track record.

The centerpiece of these contracts, the HOLINWON PRO, is a cutting-edge surgical device employing a 2100nm wavelength holmium laser, primarily designed for urological procedures.

This innovative equipment enables minimally invasive endoscopic surgery through proprietary optical fibers less than 1mm in diameter, significantly reducing collateral tissue damage.

Another flagship product, the HOLINWON PRIMA, made history as Asia’s first holmium laser medical device to receive the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval. Its efficacy and safety in treating benign prostatic hyperplasia have been validated through clinical studies conducted by the urology department at Seoul National University Hospital.

In Uzbekistan, Wontech inked a fresh supply agreement for the HOLINWON PRO, with equipment valued at 1.3 million USD. The total contract, including surgical consumables, amounts to approximately 1.5 million USD.

Meanwhile, in Indonesia, existing partnerships paved the way for additional contracts. The deals include 500,000 USD for the HOLINWON PRO and 150,000 USD for the HOLINWON PRIMA, with consumables bringing the total contract value to around 700,000 USD.

Wontech aims to leverage these contracts to evolve beyond equipment sales, developing a sustainable business model that integrates consumables, maintenance services, and training programs. The company plans to bolster its surgical lineup’s market competitiveness through localized strategies tailored to each country’s partnerships, while also enhancing its global training and clinical support systems for medical professionals.

Kim Young-cheol, Wontech’s Global Sales Director, stated that these contracts underscore Wontech’s growing recognition as a global standard in surgical technology for disease treatment. It’s committed to expanding the market share in Southeast and Central Asia by capitalizing on the local distribution networks and strategic partnerships. The goal is to solidify the position as a trusted global medical brand among healthcare professionals worldwide.

Last month, Wontech ramped up its Asian market penetration by hosting Wave Tokyo in Japan’s capital, where it officially unveiled the SANDRO Dual.
