Mongolia Respiratory Care Partnership Marks New Step in SCL Group’s Global Social Contribution Strategy

HealthMongolia Respiratory Care Partnership Marks New Step in SCL Group’s Global Social Contribution Strategy

The SCL Group has partnered with Yonsei University Gangnam Severance Hospital’s Respiratory Rehabilitation Center and the Mongolian National University of Medical Sciences (MUNMS) to improve medical services in Mongolia and expand global social contribution initiatives.

On May 22, the SCL Group held a medical equipment donation ceremony at MUNMS, establishing a collaboration focused on supporting Mongolian patients with severe respiratory failure and transferring medical expertise, as announced on Wednesday.

The CoughAssist E70 device donated by the SCL Group is crucial for patients who struggle to expel phlegm independently.

This device operates by synchronizing air injection with the patient’s breathing cycle and then rapidly transitioning to induce coughing, which is expected to enhance patient comfort and treatment efficacy compared to traditional, often painful airway suction methods.

The event was more than just an equipment handover; the Respiratory Rehabilitation Center at Gangnam Severance Hospital conducted training for local medical professionals, adding substantial value to the initiative.

The center provided instruction on equipment usage and shared specialized medical techniques, ensuring that the donated devices could be utilized effectively and immediately for patient care in Mongolia.

Lee Kyung-ryul, chairman of the SCL Group, stated that it intends to continue expanding the international medical support projects, leveraging the global network.

Last year, the SCL Group’s affiliate, the Seoul Medical Science Research Institute (SCL), entered into an agreement with Gangnam Severance Hospital to support patients with severe respiratory failure abroad.

The two organizations are involved in various collaborative efforts, including training and support for overseas medical institutions and international medical outreach projects.

Meanwhile, the SCL Group is strengthening its position as a comprehensive healthcare group with subsidiaries including the specialized testing institution SCL, the health screening specialist Hanaro Medical Foundation, and the integrated healthcare company SCL Healthcare.
