LG Electronics is expanding its reach in the premium portable screen market with the global launch of the LG StandbyME 2 Max, a movable screen boasting a 32-inch display and 4K resolution. Following its domestic success, the company aims to strengthen its market leadership by rolling out sales across North America, Europe, and key Asian countries.

LG Electronics announced on Wednesday that it will begin releasing the LG StandbyME 2 Max in major markets worldwide, starting with the United States and Canada this month, followed by France, Italy, and Taiwan in August.

The LG StandbyME 2 Max, successor to last year’s LG StandbyME 2, elevates the viewing experience with its 32-inch display – about 40% larger than its predecessor’s 27-inch screen – and 4K ultra high definition (UHD) (3840×2160) resolution.

Equipped with the third-generation Alpha 8 artificial intelligence (AI) processor, the new model automatically optimizes picture and sound quality based on content. Its Alpha 8 AI Super Upscaling 4K feature ensures crisp images even for low-resolution content, while Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support enhances immersion.

The device also offers improved mobility and convenience. With an expanded 144Wh built-in battery, it can operate for up to 4 hours and 30 minutes without a power connection. Users can detach the screen from the stand for tablet-like use, and the device supports both landscape and portrait orientations to suit various content types.

LG has broadened its content offerings as well. The device features LG Channels, the company’s free ad-supported streaming television (TV) (FAST) service. In a first for the StandbyME series, it also includes LG Gallery Plus, allowing users to enjoy over 5,000 works of art.

The new product, which debuted in South Korea in April, has already seen significant success. During a live broadcast on LG Electronics’ online brand shop, the initial 200 units sold out in just 45 minutes, with viewer numbers surpassing 570,000. The retail price is set at 1.59 million KRW (approximately 1,021).

Lee Chung-hwan, Vice President and head of LG Electronics’ Display Business Division, stated that this product is the result of our efforts to meet customer demands for a larger screen, improved picture quality, and enhanced mobility. It’s confident that the LG StandbyME 2 Max will further solidify the leadership in the global portable screen market.
