Global experts in longevity and reproductive medicine are convening in Pangyo, South Korea, to explore strategies for extending reproductive longevity.
CHA Hospital announced on Thursday that it will co-host the 2026 Reproductive Aging–PSRM Conference, an international scientific symposium, with the Asia-Pacific Society for Reproductive Medicine (PSRM) at the CHA Bio Complex in Pangyo on July 16-17.
The event will feature a star-studded lineup of experts, including Dr. Cha Kwang-ryul, Director of CHA Hospital and CHA Bio Group’s Global Research Institute, Jared Robbins, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and renowned professors such as Uriel Alon from Israel’s Weizmann Institute, Seo You-shin from Columbia University, and Brian Kennedy and Zhongwei Huang from the National University of Singapore.
Reproductive longevity is a multifaceted concept that goes beyond mere fertility. It encompasses the study of how ovarian function and hormonal changes impact overall health and aging, including cardiovascular diseases, osteoporosis, and dementia. Recent research has thrust this field into the spotlight, with scientists actively investigating the link between menopause timing and health longevity.
The conference will serve as a platform for these experts to share groundbreaking findings on how genetics, epigenetics, oocyte aging, and declining ovarian function affect health longevity, as well as the latest advancements in reproductive aging and longevity research.
A highlight of the event will be Professor Alon’s keynote address on, The Epidemiology of Menopause. Alon, whose research revealing that genetic factors influence up to 50-55% of human lifespan has garnered significant attention, will present findings based on a staggering 300 million data points.
Professor Seo will delve into cutting-edge trends in reproductive aging research, focusing on telomere studies and their connection to longevity, menopause timing, and ovarian aging. Telomeres, the protective caps at the ends of chromosomes, have been identified as key players in the aging process, shortening with each cell division.
The conference will also feature talks by other luminaries in the field. Professor Kennedy will explore the future of gerotherapeutics and interventions in reproductive aging. Columbia University’s Professor Rogério Lobo will discuss the preventive effects of postmenopausal hormone therapy. ASRM CEO Robbins will outline strategies for fertility extension. Professor Huang will shed light on how inflammatory aging of the ovaries impacts reproductive function and overall health longevity.
Reflecting on the event’s significance, Professor Seo remarked that the caliber of researchers attending this conference, hosted by a single Korean institution, is truly remarkable. It’s a testament to CHA Hospital’s world-class capabilities in longevity and reproductive medicine research.
Dr. Cha, Director of CHA Hospital and CHA Bio Group’s Global Research Institute, emphasized the institution’s long-standing commitment to the field: Reproductive medicine and longevity have been at the core of CHA Hospital’s research for over four decades. It hopes this conference will catalyze global research collaborations aimed at extending reproductive health longevity and usher in the next generation of longevity research.
