BLACKPINK’s Jennie has addressed the controversy surrounding the group’s 10th anniversary fan event.
Taking to Weverse, a fan communication platform, on Monday, Jennie expressed her regret: It’s deeply saddened that it couldn’t properly connect with the BLINK during BLACKPINK’s 10th anniversary celebration. She decided to post this message after the final festival performance, hoping it would better convey her feelings.
She continued that the past decade has been an irreplaceable gift, thanks to all of you. The love from BLINK has been the driving force behind the growth and the ability to envision a brighter future.
Jennie apologized, saying that what should have been a day of pure celebration turned into one of disappointment. She can only offer her sincerest apologies.
She emphasized that to BLACKPINK, BLINK has been the greatest blessing and love. She’s sorry for any immaturity they’ve shown, and she wants to express her heartfelt gratitude for these past 10 years.
Jennie added that she cherishes the connection deeply and want to convey her endless gratitude and wishes for happiness to everyone once again. Thank you for celebrating the 10th anniversary with us and for being by the side.
Earlier, YG Entertainment, BLACKPINK’s management company, announced on August 6 that the group would hold a 10th Anniversary Meet and Greet at Seoul’s National Museum of Korea on August 8. Initially, they stated that only some members would attend due to scheduling conflicts.
This announcement came after fans had already expressed disappointment over the lack of anniversary events. The last-minute notice and partial member attendance further intensified the backlash. Although it was later announced that all four members would attend, fan dissatisfaction persisted.
In response, other members also issued apologies. Jisoo wrote on the fan platform that this anniversary is filled with regret. Thank you for celebrating the 10th year, and she’s truly sorry for causing such disappointment.
Rosé shared that she had hoped August 8 would be a day of smiles and happiness for all of them. She’s deeply sorry it didn’t turn out as it wished.
Lisa also acknowledged the situation, stating that as everyone knows, there have been issues online about the 10th anniversary and that she’s genuinely sorry it has come to this.
