Hanmi Pharmaceutical announced on Tuesday the launch of an innovative e-label service for its medications. This digital solution allows users to access comprehensive drug information from any internet-connected device, effectively replacing traditional paper inserts.
The pharmaceutical giant has rolled out this e-label service for five of its products: Ubactam Inj. 750mg, Triaxone Inj. 2g Type 1 and Type 2, and Hanmi Cefotaxime Sodium Inj. 2g Type 1 and Type 2.
While medication information is critical for patients and caregivers, the industry has long grappled with complaints about the difficulty in navigating the small print and vast content of paper inserts. Moreover, the need to discard and reprint documents following approval changes has been a persistent inefficiency.
To tackle these issues head-on, Hanmi has introduced a QR code-based e-label service. Users can now simply scan the QR code on the product packaging to access vital information including efficacy, dosage, and usage precautions.
This move aligns with recent efforts by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to promote electronic labeling for medications, signaling a broader shift towards digital information provision in the pharmaceutical sector.
Hanmi’s e-label is designed with user accessibility and convenience at its core. A standout feature is the ability to adjust text size across four levels, ensuring readability for all users.
The service also boasts a robust search function, allowing users to quickly pinpoint specific information within the instructions. Keywords entered are highlighted, with easy navigation via previous and next buttons.
For intuitive access, key categories such as active ingredients, product characteristics, efficacy, dosage, and precautions are organized into easily accessible tabs at the top of the interface.
Recognizing the diverse tech-savviness of its user base, Hanmi has also incorporated features for those less familiar with digital platforms. Users can download or print official documents in PDF format, with the system automatically excluding non-essential elements like menus and search bars during printing.
Looking ahead, Hanmi plans to further enhance digital accessibility by adding e-label buttons to product pages on its corporate website.
Beyond improving user experience, the e-label initiative is expected to significantly reduce paper usage, aligning with Hanmi’s commitment to environmental sustainability and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices. This move builds on the company’s ongoing internal campaigns aimed at reducing carbon emissions and promoting resource recycling.
