Lee Dae-ho (44) donned the Seattle Mariners uniform for the first time in a decade to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at his former home stadium.
On Wednesday, Lee took the mound as the honorary pitcher before the 2026 Major League Baseball (MLB) game between the Seattle Mariners and the Detroit Tigers at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington.
His son, Lee Ye-sung, sported the jersey of Seattle legend Ken Griffey Jr. and served as the catcher for the ceremony.
Lee Dae-ho’s pitch was perfectly caught by Ye-sung, after which the pair celebrated together and posed for a commemorative photo.
The Mariners extended an invitation to Lee Dae-ho, who was on a family vacation in the U.S., to throw out the first pitch.
Following successful stints in Korea and Japan, Lee signed a split contract with Seattle in 2016, marking his debut in Major League Baseball.
During his lone MLB season, Lee appeared in 104 games, posting a .253 batting average (74 hits in 292 at-bats) with 14 home runs, 49 RBIs, and 33 runs scored, compiling an On-base Plus Slugging ( (OPS) of .740.
The following year, he returned to his former team, the Lotte Giants in Korea, where he continued to play until his retirement in 2022.
