Hyundai Motor said on the 30th that it will gradually roll out an over-the-air (OTA) software update for customers of the new Grandeur, introducing new features and a redesigned user interface (UI) for its next-generation infotainment system, PLEOS Connect.

The update focuses on making frequently accessed driving functions easier for drivers to check and operate.

First, a door-lock button has been added to the driving information screen, allowing drivers to lock or unlock all doors with a single tap.

A new display also shows the current gear whenever the driver shifts. Previously, the system displayed only the current gear status. After the update, a separate window will appear each time the gear is changed, showing whether the vehicle is in Park (P), Reverse (R), Neutral (N) or Drive (D).

On the slim display, drivers can check engine speed in revolutions per minute (RPM) through a gear information widget. The speedometer font and background will also change depending on the selected drive mode.

New features have also been added to Gleo AI, Hyundai’s in-vehicle voice-based artificial intelligence (AI) agent.

When drivers search for a destination by voice, the system finds nearby places based on the vehicle’s actual driving route. Search results for destinations where proximity is particularly important are automatically sorted by distance.

The system also supports on-device text-to-speech (TTS), allowing it to read text messages aloud in response to voice commands. In the rear seats, voice commands related to calls and text messages are restricted to prevent unintended activation.

The update is available for the new Grandeur. The recently launched all-new Avante and all-new Tucson will be delivered to customers with these features already installed.

Hyundai said it plans to continue rolling out software updates that reflect customer feedback and real-world usage experiences.

The company is also developing a range of applications to expand the in-vehicle customer experience. Earlier this month, it held a development contest for students, graduate students, independent developers and startups.

A Hyundai Motor representative said, “We will continue expanding in-vehicle services based on customer experiences and deliver an evolving driving experience even after vehicles leave the factory through software updates.”

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor reported preliminary consolidated operating profit of approximately $1.78 billion in the third quarter of this year, up 5.5% from the same period last year. Revenue for the quarter totaled approximately $30.07 billion.
