Doosan Enerbility Expands North American Power Equipment Push With New U.S. Steam Turbine Supply Deal

EconomyDoosan Enerbility Expands North American Power Equipment Push With New U.S. Steam Turbine Supply Deal

Doosan Enerbility is accelerating its push into the North American combined-cycle power generation market after securing a series of steam turbine supply contracts in the United States.

The company said Tuesday that it signed a contract with a U.S. firm to supply four 370-megawatt steam turbines and four generators.

The equipment is scheduled to be delivered sequentially to Texas through 2029.

At the customer’s request, neither the identity of the client nor the value of the contract was disclosed.

Industry observers, however, have raised the possibility that the order may have come from xAI, the artificial intelligence company established by Elon Musk.

The latest deal adds to orders secured by Doosan Enerbility after the company won its first steam turbine contract in North America in March.

Building on the momentum, the company said it plans to expand ties with local power generation operators and business partners while strengthening its foothold in the North American market.

Steam turbines are key components in combined-cycle power plants, generating additional electricity by utilizing waste heat produced by gas turbines.

The process improves energy efficiency and enhances the stability of electricity supply by using waste heat generated after natural gas powers a gas turbine to drive a steam turbine.

Doosan Enerbility said demand for high-efficiency combined-cycle power generation in North America has been rising rapidly amid the expansion of data centers, growing industrial electricity demand and replacement needs for aging power infrastructure.

Son Seung-woo, head of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group, said the project will serve as an opportunity to further strengthen relationships with local customers and partners and actively pursue additional business opportunities in the North American market.
