The Republic of Korea Navy Operations Command organized a public event with the U.S. Navy’s 9th Carrier Strike Group at the Busan Operations Base starting at 10 a.m. on the 23rd.

This event, held to commemorate the 71st anniversary of the U.S.-South Korea alliance and the week of the June 25 war, drew participation from over 1,000 civilians. Attendees had the opportunity to tour the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier, Roosevelt, the U.S. Navy Aegis destroyer Inoue, and the Republic of Korea Navy’s large transport ship, ROKS Dokdo.

Visitors were able to view the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, a multi-purpose fighter famous from the movie Top Gun, the F-35, a fifth-generation stealth fighter, and the E-2C Hawkeye, an early warning and control aircraft that detects enemies from above the horizon. This experience underscored the importance of the U.S.-South Korean alliance.

Nam-gu resident Park Jina expressed, “It was a great opportunity to witness firsthand the formidable capabilities of the U.S. and Korean navies. I’m thankful to the U.S. and Korean navies for providing this opportunity. I will continue to support the U.S. and Korean navies.” The USS Roosevelt and USS Inoue, among others from the U.S. Navy’s 9th Carrier Strike Group, arrived at our navy base on the 22nd to participate in the first multi-domain military exercise, Freedom Edge, between our country, the U.S., and Japan.

During the visit of the U.S. Navy’s 9th Air Assault Group to Korea, the U.S. and Korean navies will engage in exchange activities to foster friendship. These activities include visiting the UN Memorial Park and mutual ship visits.
