Alteogen announced on Wednesday that it has been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, a global sustainability assessment organization, placing it in the top 5% of companies in their 2026 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) evaluation.
EcoVadis, based in Paris, France, is a supply chain sustainability assessment agency with over 150,000 participating companies from more than 180 countries worldwide. It evaluates companies’ ESG policies, activities, and performance, serving as a key benchmark for global pharmaceutical companies when selecting partners or managing their supply chains.
ESG, which stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, refers to non-financial factors used to assess a company’s sustainability. Key evaluation criteria include greenhouse gas reduction, labor and human rights protection, and transparent governance structures.
EcoVadis medals are categorized as Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 15%), and Bronze (top 35%). In this assessment, Alteogen ranked in the top 4% among participating companies, scoring between 83 and 85 points in four evaluation areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
In a separate carbon assessment that evaluates climate change response capabilities, Alteogen also achieved an Advanced rating. This rating is based on a comprehensive evaluation of greenhouse gas management systems, reduction policies, implementation, and disclosure levels.
Alteogen has rapidly progressed from a Bronze Medal in last year’s initial assessment to a Gold rating within just one year. The company has designated this year as the inaugural year of its ESG management, strengthening its governance by establishing an ESG committee within the board and creating a dedicated organizational unit.
Furthermore, Alteogen has developed a third-party verified greenhouse gas inventory and received approval for its short-term emission reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company is also actively pursuing participation in the Korean RE100 (K-RE100) program, transitioning to renewable energy, and obtaining international standard certifications in environmental and occupational health and safety fields.
Jeong Tae-yeon, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Alteogen, stated that the efforts to enhance the sustainability management system in alignment with global standards have culminated in this Gold Medal achievement. He added that in the scientific research and development sector, it has placed in the top 2% of companies assessed over the past 12 months.
Jeong further emphasized that it won’t rest on our laurels. It’s committed to continuously improving the management systems across all areas, including environmental stewardship, labor and human rights, ethical practices, and sustainable procurement.
