Celltrion is set to highlight the efficacy of its autoimmune disease treatment, Remsima SC, alongside other inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) therapies at Europe’s premier gastroenterology conference.

Celltrion announced on Thursday its participation in the 2026 United European Gastroenterology Week (UEG Week), scheduled to take place in Barcelona, Spain, from October 17 to 20.

UEG Week serves as a global forum for healthcare professionals and researchers to exchange the latest clinical findings and treatment trends in gastrointestinal diseases. Last year’s event drew over 12,100 medical experts from about 115 countries.

At this year’s conference, Celltrion will operate a standalone 200-square-meter booth and host symposiums and expert sessions featuring renowned global scholars. The company aims to underscore its product’s competitive edge by presenting long-term clinical outcomes and real-world prescribing experiences with Remsima SC.

The company will showcase its existing Remsima intravenous (IV) and subcutaneous (SC) formulations, along with the IV liquid formulation launched in Europe earlier this year. Additionally, Celltrion will present other IBD treatments, including Stelara (ustekinumab) and Yuflyma (adalimumab).

On October 18, Professor Peter Irving from King’s College London will chair a symposium discussing the clinical results and treatment strategies of Remsima SC for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.

Professor Irina Blumenstein from Frankfurt University Hospital in Germany and Dr. Jonata Fiorino from San Camillo-Forlanini Hospital in Italy will also participate in expert sessions, sharing insights on Remsima SC monotherapy and transitions from existing treatments.

IBD is characterized by chronic intestinal inflammation, with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis being the most common forms. As patients often experience cycles of symptom improvement and exacerbation, long-term treatment and management are crucial.

Infliximab works by inhibiting tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), a key player in inflammatory responses. The subcutaneous formulation offers an advantage over intravenous injections by reducing the need for patients to visit healthcare facilities for treatment.

Celltrion aims to leverage the market position of its existing products to expand sales of its follow-up treatments.

According to global market research firm IQVIA, the Remsima product line (IV and SC) captured approximately 71% of the European market share in the first quarter of this year. Yuflyma also demonstrated a strong presence with a 24% market share.

Celltrion plans to accelerate the market expansion of follow-up products like Steqeyma by capitalizing on the direct sales network established through its flagship products in Europe.

Hae-tae Hoon, head of Celltrion’s European Global Sales Division, stated that at this conference, it plans to extensively present the clinical data and real-world patient experiences with the IBD treatments, including Remsima SC. It aims to further strengthen the position in the IBD market through the differentiated product portfolio, diverse treatment options, and robust direct sales network.
