A new support system linking community finance with public healthcare will be established to address the healthcare gap faced by financially vulnerable populations.

The Korea Inclusive Finance Agency and the Credit Recovery Commission announced on Tuesday that they had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the National Medical Center and the National Cancer Center on Monday. This agreement aims to create a collaborative support system integrating policy-based community finance and public healthcare.

The partnership seeks to expand the existing support framework, which has primarily focused on finance, employment, and welfare, to include public healthcare, thereby reducing gaps in assistance for vulnerable groups.

Under this agreement, users of the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency and the Credit Recovery Commission who require medical assistance due to illness will be connected with public healthcare institutions. Conversely, vulnerable patients using public healthcare services who face financial difficulties or debt delinquency will be directed to the Community Finance Integrated Support Center for consultations.

The partnering institutions plan to collaborate on various fronts, including providing information about policy-based community finance, enhancing tailored support for vulnerable populations, and engaging in mutual education and promotional activities. Following inter-agency data integration, these services are scheduled to officially launch in July.

Kim Eun-kyung, head of the Korea Inclusive Finance Agency, stated that through this collaboration between policy-based community finance institutions and public healthcare organizations, it will strive to safeguard citizens’ fundamental rights in both financial and healthcare domains.
