JLK Secures Brazil Regulatory Clearance as It Expands AI Imaging Push in Latin America

HealthJLK Secures Brazil Regulatory Clearance as It Expands AI Imaging Push in Latin America

JLK is set to accelerate its expansion into the Brazilian and Latin American (LATAM) markets with its cutting-edge artificial intelligence (AI)-powered medical imaging analysis solutions.

The company announced on Friday that it had secured regulatory approval for its mammography imaging analysis AI solution, JBD-01K, in compliance with the latest regulations (RDC 751/2022) from Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (ANVISA) on April 28. JLK plans to gradually extend its offerings to include an AI-driven stroke diagnosis support system.

With over 200 million inhabitants, Brazil represents the largest healthcare market in LATAM. The region is experiencing a surge in demand for AI-based imaging solutions, fueled by population growth and an increasing disease burden, particularly in breast cancer and stroke cases.

The Brazilian National Cancer Institute (INCA) projects that by 2026, there will be approximately 70,000 to 80,000 new breast cancer cases annually.

This forecast presents a prime opportunity for JLK’s solutions to deliver both clinical value and commercial success.

JLK’s expansion strategy unfolds in two phases: initially, the company aims to establish a strong presence in the Brazilian market with its JBD-01K mammography imaging analysis AI solution and build a robust hospital network. The second phase involves broadening its scope to emergency imaging analysis, featuring a computed tomography (CT)-based stroke diagnosis support AI solution. This move is designed to shift towards a high-value revenue model, with long-term plans to expand across the entire LATAM region.

In a parallel development, JLK has obtained the prestigious SOC 2 Type II certification, a rigorous U.S. information security standard. The company has also secured third-party verification for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). These achievements significantly bolster JLK’s information security credentials as it seeks to expand its footprint in the U.S. healthcare sector.

The SOC 2 Type II certification is a gold standard for evaluating the security operations of cloud-based services and digital healthcare companies. It goes beyond mere policy checks, verifying that a robust security control system operates consistently over an extended period.

Through an intensive three-month audit process, JLK demonstrated exceptional operational capabilities across key information security domains, including data protection, access control, system stability, and internal management protocols.
