AITRICS Secures Malaysia Approval for Patient Deterioration Prediction AI Platform

HealthAITRICS Secures Malaysia Approval for Patient Deterioration Prediction AI Platform

AITRICS, a medical artificial intelligence (AI) company, has secured approval for its patient deterioration prediction AI solution, AITRICS-VC (VitalCare), from the Malaysian Medical Device Authority (MDA), the company announced on Tuesday.

VitalCare is an innovative AI solution that leverages hospital electronic medical record (EMR) data to predict early signs of patient decline. This latest approval marks the sixth regulatory clearance for VitalCare, including its home market of South Korea, and bolsters its global expansion efforts, particularly in Southeast Asia, following recent approval in Indonesia.

The newly obtained Malaysian approval falls under the CLASS C category, signifying that VitalCare has undergone rigorous safety and efficacy evaluations.

Malaysia is actively pursuing the digitalization of its healthcare system through national digital health initiatives. The country is gradually developing its medical data infrastructure, including EMR systems, lifelong health records (ELHR), and health information exchange (HIE) networks, guided by the Health White Paper policy document released in 2023.

As medical data utilization expands, there’s growing potential for AI solutions like VitalCare that can identify high-risk patients early and support swift action by healthcare professionals.

AITRICS anticipates that this approval will enable VitalCare to play a crucial role in enhancing patient safety protocols within Malaysia’s healthcare system.

AITRICS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kim Kwang-jun commented that as medical data infrastructure grows, the key challenge is effectively applying this data in clinical settings to improve patient outcomes. They’re optimistic that VitalCare will become an indispensable tool in Malaysian hospitals, helping medical staff quickly identify patient risk factors and facilitate timely interventions.

In related news, AITRICS recently entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Vietnam’s Hung Yen Province Health Department to foster educational and academic collaboration in AI healthcare.

The agreement was signed on April 23 during the Korea-Vietnam Business Forum, part of President Lee Jae Myung’s economic delegation visit.

This partnership aims to enhance AI capabilities in Vietnam’s healthcare sector and improve local medical services.

Under the agreement, AITRICS plans to work with Hung Yen Province Health Department on various initiatives. These include training healthcare professionals, facilitating technology and clinical experience exchanges through expert collaborations, and co-hosting academic seminars. The company will also explore opportunities to implement AI solutions tailored to Vietnam’s unique healthcare landscape and regulatory environment.
