Noeul said Sept. 22 that it will present two studies conducted with Asan Medical Center on its AI blood analysis solution, miLab BCM, at the European Congress of Pathology (ECP 2026) and the European Academy of Paediatric Societies (EAPS 2026).

At ECP 2026, held Sept. 12 in Stockholm, Sweden, Noeul compared miLab BCM’s white blood cell classification and morphological analysis of 361 peripheral blood samples with manual microscopic readings by experts. The solution showed a high correlation of more than 0.9 across major white blood cell categories.

In particular, when its ability to screen for blasts and immature granulocytes (IG), which are used to identify serious blood diseases such as leukemia, was evaluated, the negative predictive values (NPVs) were 99.4% and 100%, respectively. NPV is a measure of the likelihood that samples judged by AI to have no abnormalities are actually free of abnormalities.

At EAPS 2026, which will be held in Athens, Greece, starting Sept. 24, the company will present findings from a study analyzing 100 samples from infants, children and adults.

Using just 5 microliters of blood, miLab BCM showed a high correlation of 0.94 to 1.00 with the large-scale Sysmex XN blood analyzer across key parameters including hemoglobin, white blood cells and platelets. No clear difference in performance was observed by age group.

miLab BCM is a solution that automatically performs complete blood counts (CBCs) and digital microscopy on a single compact device. It measures levels of red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets in blood while using AI to analyze cell morphology and classify abnormal cells such as blasts and atypical lymphocytes.

Noeul has also been validating miLab BCM’s clinical performance in other studies. In a study presented at the European Hematology Association (EHA 2026) in May, the correlation coefficients for major CBC parameters were above 0.97, while blast detection showed 88% sensitivity and a 96% negative predictive value.

miLab BCM has been adopted by Japanese medical device company Nihon Kohden and Germany’s large laboratory network Limbach. Noeul’s miLab product line is currently available in 32 countries, and the company is also pursuing certification under the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Europe’s In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR).

Noeul CEO Im Chan-yang said, “We are continuing to build clinical evidence to address the broad range of testing environments and patient populations required in actual medical settings. We will introduce the product’s clinical utility to global medical and diagnostic experts and turn that into tangible business opportunities.”
