SEERS has launched a pilot program to integrate artificial intelligence (AI)-powered arrhythmia screenings into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) national health check-up system. The company has secured approval from the local health authority’s Institutional Review Board (IRB) and aims to complete validation this year, with plans to implement the program nationwide in the coming year.

On Friday, SEERS announced that its collaborative national health check-up project with SEHA Clinics, the UAE’s largest public healthcare network, received approval from the Abu Dhabi Department of Health’s IRB.

This pilot initiative seeks to introduce AI arrhythmia screening for UAE citizens aged 40 and older as part of the national health check-up program. SEERS won the exclusive contract for this project through a competitive bidding process late last year. The pilot will assess the clinical efficacy and operational feasibility of AI arrhythmia screening using mobiCARE, a ring-shaped electrocardiogram (ECG) device, on a sample of over 100 health check-up participants.

SEERS intends to wrap up the pilot by year-end and roll out its services within the UAE national health check-up program starting next year. The company projects that full implementation could benefit approximately 280,000 check-up participants annually, with an estimated revenue exceeding 100 USD per test.

SEHA Clinics, a subsidiary of the Middle Eastern healthcare conglomerate PureHealth, manages public medical services, primary care, health screenings, and preventive healthcare in the Abu Dhabi region. This project represents a pioneering effort to adapt a domestically proven AI arrhythmia screening model to an international national health check-up framework.

SEERS has previously validated its AI arrhythmia screening’s clinical effectiveness through trials involving 3,000 health check-up participants across five medical institutions, including the prestigious Seoul National University Hospital. The technology is currently in use at major Korean health screening centers, such as KMI Korea Medical Institute and the Korea Health Promotion Institute.

The company views the UAE as a strategic launchpad for expansion into other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. The Middle East presents a significant market for cardiovascular disease management, and the integration of AI-based screening into national health check-ups could generate substantial revenue from testing services, beyond mere medical device sales.

Kim Sung-jong, Chief Business Officer (CBO) of SEERS, stated that this groundbreaking project marks the first application of its domestically validated AI arrhythmia screening model within the UAE’s national health check-up system. The goal is to execute this project successfully, establishing a foothold in the UAE’s national health screening program and paving the way for expansion into other GCC nations.

The name SEERS embodies the concept of a visionary pioneer. It reflects the company’s founding philosophy of proactively anticipating shifts in the healthcare landscape and developing innovative medical systems, even before digital healthcare became mainstream.
