
Actor Ryu Soo Young is winning over audiences with his culinary prowess, which he describes as an inseparable part of his destiny.
Set to appear on MBC’s Radio Star on July 1, Ryu will open up about his romantic journey with wife Park Ha Sun.
During a recent taping, Ryu Soo Young revealed a pivotal moment from 12 years ago when Park Ha Sun attended his performance in the musical Guys and Dolls. Watching him on stage, Park Ha Sun experienced newfound emotions. Their love story blossomed following a serendipitous encounter in Hongcheon, which led to an unexpected meeting with both families. The impromptu gathering created an atmosphere akin to a pre-arranged family introduction, adding a touch of excitement to their budding romance.
Ryu Soo Young also discussed his culinary ventures, announcing that his cookbook, “Lifelong Recipes,” has achieved the remarkable feat of 30 reprints within its first year. He shared the meticulous preparation that went into the book, emphasizing the unique pressure of cookbook writing. Unlike novels, these recipes go straight from the page to the plate. There’s no room for error, Ryu Soo Young explained. He also proudly noted that his recipe videos have amassed over 400 million views. It’s incredibly rewarding when people try his recipes and tell him they enjoyed the meal, he said. Ryu Soo Young’s culinary influence has expanded globally, with his involvement in international K-food shows and lectures.

Ryu Soo Young’s entertainment career kicked off in 1998 with appearances on SBS’s The Best Table and KBS 2TV’s Campus Video Song. He made his acting debut in the 2000 MBC sitcom The Gibbs Family. Since then, he has starred in numerous hit dramas, including Cheerful Girl’s Success, The Last Dance is with Me, Eighteen, Twenty-Nine, Rebirth-NEXT, My Princess, Two Weeks, My Father is Strange, and Queen Maker.
